[For now, he settles like this. Warm and soft, listening to his family out there talking and chattering at breakfast. A couple of the rats not bundled up come back with some food, enough for the both of them.]

Yes. You would. It would be like - you would get a chance to live somewhere nice. Eat at my bakery. And then, eventually, you'd wake up here again, and your family would still be in the middle of breakfast.

[He hesitates, exhaling a bit.]

I-i can't. I'm. I'm sure it's great. A-a perfect place. But I... I can't.
