[ Martin, meanwhile, has spent time making their living area more homey? He's gotten the mattress off the top bunk, placing it on their shared bed to make it more comfy, and is in the process of converting said bunk into shelves for storage with the help of some curtains and some planks of wood.

He turns when he hears Jon, though, always happy to see his boyfriend. ]

-- Wait, really? Real phones?

[He holds them up to show. Two phones, seeming in perfectly working condition.]

Picked them up at one of the shops. Seem to be working just fine.

Oh my god.

[ He reaches out for one of them. ]

I really missed having one.

[He hands it over easily, typing up a quick text but not sending it just yet.]

They did seem a bit useless where we were, didn't they?

Oh yes. Somehow, no service in the apocalypse.

[ He's flipping through the apps now. ]

That would have been far too convenient.

[One moment... Ah. He shoots a quick text to Martin's phone with a notification ding and smiles a bit.]

There. That should do it. I think we're about all set then.

[ text?? god he missed texts. He immediately checks it. ]

Oh - just making sure you can save my number to your own phone. Wouldn't do to not even have them saved, would it?

That would be terribly ironic, yes.

[ He moves to save Jon's number. ]

Agreed.

[With that, Jon settles one other thing with his phone before tucking it to his pocket for now and assessing the work Martin's been doing arranging their things.]

Right? Rather like it.

[ Martin steps back to admire his work. ]

We - er - we can always put the mattress on the floor if you need more space but ... I thought sharing would be nice ...

[Jon smiles a little more at that, stepping to stand closer to Martin, nearly shoulder to shoulder.]

A bit like the safehouse, I think. I should like that.

Very nearly. Yes.

[ Martin looks a bit shy. ]

I - er - I'm still working on the tea but ...

[ He reaches up to the new shelving, where he's managed to find an old, cracked, but still functional electric kettle. ]

[Jon watches for a moment, then brightens visibly.]

Oh brilliant! I'm sure we can find tea around somewhere, but that's a big part of it done. Thank you.

[He'll just casually take Martin's hand, a warm feeling reaching from his fingertips to his wrist and up.]
